A consumer report is not an official finding of wrongdoing. Public materials clearly distinguish reports from independently verified facts.
How website submissions work right now
When you submit the Share Your Story, advocacy, early-access or media form, your answers are sent securely (HTTPS) to a private Google account used only by Know Before You Own. They are delivered to knowbeforeyouownfl@gmail.com and logged in a private spreadsheet in that account. Files you upload are saved to a private Google Drive folder that is not shared with anyone.
Your information is not sold or shared, and nothing is published without your permission. Please cover highly sensitive details — Social Security numbers, bank information and passwords — before uploading anything. To have your submission deleted, email knowbeforeyouownfl@gmail.com.
The free guide download
When you ask for the free buyer’s guide, we save your first name, your email address, the page you came from, when you asked, and how many times you downloaded it. This is stored in the Know Before You Own app’s private database (run by our provider Supabase), which only the Know Before You Own team can see. Your download link is private and stops working after 7 days. To limit spam, we briefly count requests from each internet connection without storing your internet address.
The “email me” box is optional; the guide is free either way. We only email you tips and app news if you tick it, and we save the exact wording you agreed to and when. Every email will include a way to unsubscribe, or you can email knowbeforeyouownfl@gmail.com to stop emails or have your details deleted. We never sell or share your email address.
Buying the workbook
The paid Buyer Workbook is sold through Payhip. When you click Buy, Payhip’s secure checkout opens and Payhip collects your email and payment details to process the order and send your download, under Payhip’s privacy policy. Know Before You Own never sees your card details.
Page-view counts
To see which pages are useful, the website counts page views: which page was opened, on which day, and which website (if any) linked to it, such as google.com. It uses no cookies and stores nothing about you — not your internet address, device or location. If your browser sends “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control,” your visits are not counted at all.
The interactive checklist
When you tick items on the online buyer’s checklist, your progress is saved only in your own browser on your own device. It is never sent to us.
The flood check
When you use the flood check, the address you type is sent to Esri’s public geocoding service to place it on the map, and map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap and FEMA. Nothing is stored by this website.
