Built for every buyer.
Everyone deserves the same information before they buy a home, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnifiers or captions.
Our goal
Know Before You Own aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on this website and in the Know Before You Own app. We build accessibility in from the start and check every new page and feature before it goes live.
What we do
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible outline showing where you are and a “Skip to content” link.
- Text and buttons meet contrast standards, and pages still work when zoomed to 200% or viewed on a small phone.
- Images that carry information have text descriptions, and forms have clear labels and spoken error messages.
- Maps and the 3D neighborhood view in the app come with the same information as plain lists.
- We test with automated accessibility checks and by hand, and we fix problems as we find them.
Known limits
Some content comes from other organizations, such as county records, government maps and aerial photos, and may not be fully accessible. Where that happens we show the key facts as text too. If anything gets in your way, please tell us.
